the prelinger archives
founded in 1983 by rick prelinger in new york city. over the next twenty years, it grew into a collection of over 48,000 "ephemeral" (advertising, educational, industrial, and amateur) films. the website currently contains over 10% of the total production of ephemeral films between 1927 and 1987, and it may be the most complete and varied collection in existence of films from these poorly preserved genres.

this is just amazing. why did it take me so long to find out about this? so many things to see here.

the stones throw singers - rain of earth (.mov)

at first this is kind of awkward to watch but then you get used to wolf singing. he actually does a pretty good job too. the video is for a song that's featured on dimension mix (a tribute to bruce haack).

speaking of haack, there's a documentary in stores now. haackmovie.com. i hope footage from his time on mister rogers is included in this.

woah. as soon as i find fourteen walkmen i am doing this.

saw thumbsucker this past weekend. i recommend you do the same if you haven't already. less amounts of polyphonic spree would have been nice, though. (note to mr. mills - these dudes named a song after you on their last lp, the least you could've done was let them score the film)

...

the photo i chose from the film is a nice segue into my next topic of conversation. DEER. i passed a group of ten or so while riding my bike on a trail in the park this afternoon. such tremendously awesome creatures deer are. i wanted to hang out with them for the rest of the day. i'm with justin; they would definitely be my power animal of choice. okay, thus concludes the offical deer appreciation post.
